To combat rising electricity expenses and persistent grid outages, a comprehensive solar-powered water transfer pump system was successfully implemented in Frankfort, Free State. The infrastructure features a high-efficiency 90kW Veichi Variable Speed Drive (VSD) driving a robust 75kW motor, all powered by a 160kW solar array consisting of 272 Jinko modules.
This heavy-duty system empowers the farm to reliably transfer water over a 3km distance , securing consistent crop irrigation completely independent of the Eskom grid. Representing a capital investment of R900,000 (Excl. VAT), the project delivers immediate operational security and exceptional financial returns, generating R45,000 in monthly savings and reaching full payback in just 20 months.
