High-Yield Solar Irrigation in the Free State

To combat the increasing pressure of rising Eskom prices on traditional farming operations, our team installed a sustainable solar pumping system for a customer in Frankfort, Free State. The high-capacity setup utilizes 224 Canadian Solar modules to generate a 122kW solar array, which powers two 45kW Veichi Variable Speed Drives (VSDs) responsible for driving dual 37kW motors. Because the system is specifically designed to operate without the need for expensive battery banks, the total system cost is kept to R630,000 (Excl. VAT). Ultimately, this installation drastically reduces monthly operational costs by yielding approximately R25,000 in monthly savings, offering an incredibly attractive return on investment while immediately freeing up essential cash flow for the farm’s ongoing operations.
